Making Cards

This week I was working on making some cards and I took out this new set, Floral Boutique.  It comes with this intricate thinlit die.  So beautiful, right?  I made both a thankful card and a wedding card.

I want to try making this same design in some different colors.  Although I do love it in the navy blue.  I got the idea for this card from Jeannie Hall, one of my fellow demonstrators.

Another card that I was working on uses the stamp set, Touches of Texture.  I saw the idea for this design from Cindee Wilkinson posted on Pinterest.  I love the little bee image even though I don't particularly like bees in general.

It was a fun and easy set to work with.  On this card I added the dragonfly, too.

I am still working on getting my stamping room all set up, but I am loving being able to sit in my room and work on my cards and projects.  :)

What projects are you working on today?  Do you have a special room that you use to work on your crafts?

Coloring with Flowering Fields

Have you tried out one of the new fads lately - coloring in adult coloring books?  I think this is a fun way to encourage my non-crafty friends (and my crafty ones) to be creative.  I even set out a basket with coloring books and colored pencils on my family room table so that anyone who comes over can take out a book and color!

Another way to color is to take out some of your stamp sets that have images in them that you can color.   I chose Flowering Fields to make a couple of cards with.  It was a set that came out during Sale-a-bration time.  It's a fun set in which to color in some flowers and then send out a note to encourage someone.

I added some pin pricks to the edge of my cards for some added interest.  Then I added a 3-D butterfly. My card ideas came from Sue Vine and Laura Milligan.

Coloring can even reduce stress in your life.  How about taking out some coloring for a few minutes today?  It's surprising how relaxing it can be.

Cute New Kitties

I love making cute, whimsical cards and craft projects.  I just love this new kitty set by Stampin Up called Pretty Kitty.  It has five cute kitty images to stamp with.  This card is for my daughter, who loves kitties of all kinds.

I made two cards, reversing the designer paper on the second one.  They are both identical cards, but the reversal of the background paper gives them each a different look.  Which card do you like better? The darker background or the lighter one?

I used the designer paper called Blooms and Bliss, which I really like.  I'm excited to try some making more projects using it.

This card idea is from Lynn Weiss.  She must love kitties, too.

Colorful Hexies

Last week was my birthday and I had some friends over to see my new home.  It was a mad scramble to get things in order because we just moved in, but I loved having everyone at my house to celebrate my birthday with me!

I wanted to send each of my friends a handmade Thank You card to let them know how special that they are to me. :)  I made these cute hexie flower cards. I love the color scheme and how bright and cheery they are.  I used the Six Sided stamp set with the coordinating punch - my favorite kind of stamping! I found the idea for this card on Pinterest by Jeanna Bohanon.

I arranged the hexie flower pedals in different patterns.  Which one do you like the best?  Or doesn't it matter?

Making Cute Magnets

Recently I joined a new rubber stamping group that meets once a month in various member's homes.  These are the swaps that I made - little magnets that are perfect for crafters.  I used the stamp set, Love You Sew that has cute sewing and crafting images.  I got the 2 1/2 x 3 1/2" plastic frames at the Christmas Tree Shop.

The designer paper was Wildflower Fields, one of the Sale-a-Bration choices.  I kept with the same color scheme, but made each magnet a little different.

Because it was a swap, I gave them all away.  Now I need to make more so that I have some for myself!  Do you like the saying?

Loving the New Stamp Sets

Today I took out some of the new stamp sets and colors from Stampin' Up's latest catalog to make some cards with.  I haven't done much stamping for the past few months, and it felt so good to stamp and use my Big Shot machine!

This bright and summery looking card was made using the Botanical Blossoms set with the matching framelits.  It seems that using banners with words in them is a new trend in paper crafting.  I used the new in-color paper called Peekaboo Peach for the card background.  The idea is from Dena Rekow that I found on Pinterest.

When I first opened the new stamping catalog, this was the first set that caught my eye!  I just love the little birds!  I used the new color Sweet Sugarplum for this card. I normally wouldn't think of using a purplish color for birds, but I love how it looks with the Soft Suede and Tip Top Taupe.  I copied her idea for the burlap ribbon strip across the bottom of the image and love the effect that it has.

I found this idea by Create It With Stamps.  The website is in German, but her samples are very nice.

Lately I love all things with mason jars.  I guess that is why I wanted this new set, Jars of Love.  It has 3 sizes of jars in it.  For this card, I put some vellum on the jar image to make it look like glass.  I love how it looks on the card.  Purple flowers add some color in the background and the other images are cut out using the matching framelit set.  I used the new color, Dapper Denim for the card base.  Don't you just love the colorful flowers in this jar?  Juan Ambida from Australia made the idea that inspired me for this card.

We made these three cards at my stamping class this week.  I always have the ladies vote which item that they liked the best.  At first, it was the Bird card, but then after the votes came in, one person changed her mind and voted for the Jar card.  I guess the Mason Jars win this round.  :)

Which one do you like the best?

Where Have I Been?

Hi Everyone,

I'm very sorry for not having any new posts in quite a while.  I decided to sell my home and buy a new one back in November, and things didn't work out exactly the way that I planned!  After I packed up all of my "stuff" in PODS, which included all of my art supplies and my computer, the closing on my new home fell through.

So I've spent the last six months staying with friends and family waiting to buy a house!  During all that time, I got sick and had to have surgery and on top of it all, was bit by a tick and had Lyme's disease, too!

Finally, on June 6, we closed on the same house that we had bought back in November and I'm so glad to finally be HOME! :)  It's a bright and sunny home with lots of space for sewing and stamping and I love it here.

My computer is hooked up and I'm working on getting my crafting rooms in order.  There are lots of new posts to come! I hope you will continue on this journey with me.  :)
