Zippered Ornament Keychains

Last year I had made some cute little zippered "bulb" ornaments that you can hang on the tree, use as a keychain or carry around small items such as earbuds, cell phone connector, tea bags, lip balm, etc.  

I took them out the other day to start rounding up items that I can make for Christmas gift ideas.  Because they have a zipper, you can put a gift card in them or some small candy canes for decoration and hang them on the tree.  

They make a cute little "something" to give to everyone on your list.  I was disappointed that I only had five of them.  I'm off to get some mini candy canes and small gifts to put in them.

They're a fast and sweet gift for a little something to give someone.  I need to make some more!

 

Baby Blanket & Accessories

A few weeks ago I bought a new desk for my sewing room.  The old one was very narrow and didn't fit my sewing machine very well.  So now that I have a nice place to sew I have been in my sewing room working on things and actually finishing up some projects!  I know, don't faint.  Sooner or later I do finish things.  Mostly the later.

One of our family friends had a baby last week and I made this cute little quilt for her.  I started it about a month ago and didn't finish it in time for her shower, but I feel good that the baby is only a week old and I have the gift done! 

I had all of the fabrics in my stash.  I used the girl with the fox image on the fabric as the focal point and worked in some cutesy colors to coordinate with her. 

The pattern was pretty simple and it went together in just a couple of days.  I would definitely make this pattern again. 

And then in my spare time (!) I made some matching bibs with terry cloth on the back.

I found a pattern for some little shoes and decided to try it out.  They came out cute, but I think they took as long as the quilt did to make!  They were very tiny and I had a hard time fitting them und3er my sewing machine.  Mostly I had to sew them by hand.  They may be the first and the last pair that I make -ha ha.

Working with Petal Palatte

One of the first stamp sets in the Stampin Up Occasions catalog to catch my eye this year was Petal Palette.  I like the soft, watercolor look that the images have.  I ordered the designer papers and framelits to go with it (of course, I just had to!). 

Here are 3 cards that I made using the stamp set with the papers.  Isn't the little bird really cute?  And I like the font on the sayings.

Although it is a little hard to see what this is, it's an acetate box filled with 6 Ghiradelli candies, each wrapped in designer paper.  Then the outside of the box has a band and a focal point.  I attached some designer paper banners hanging from the circle and some sequined ribbon to make it pop.

These are really easy to make and are great for giving as a small gift of appreciation to someone.  For more details on them, see the next blogpost.
