Table Runners are My Thing

In my upstairs hallway I have a long, thin black table that sits at the top of the stairs.  I decided during my time at home that it needed a runner to go on it.  I've been fond of this artwork piece made by Kelly Rae Roberts and I thought that I would pick out colors to match this piece.

I found some pink and some plum fabrics in my stash and then added some greens to go along with them.

I basically just cut them out into strips of various widths and sewed them together.

I have a couple of green quilts on the shelf below and I like how the colors coordinate with them, too.  I love seeing my little runner in the hallway every time I go upstairs.

Magnolia Suite

When I first got the new (June) Stampin Up catalog this summer, I saw the Magnolia stamp set and coordinating papers.  I wasn't sure that I "needed" it, but after seeing so many beautiful samples online, I decided to go for it!

For my stamp classes this month, I offered a couple of classes featuring the Magnolia Lane suite.  The designer paper is amazing and this set works up some really nice projects.  This card is a simple card that also coordinates with the framed project.  I got the card idea from Gail Ellis.  Then I made a matching bag to hold all of the cards.  I watched a bag-making tutorial made by Amanda Flowler.

The Live, Love, Laugh sayings were from an old framelit set that I had.  I thought this would be a great use for them.  But I have to say that I love the 3D flowers along the side.  It gives the whole project a nice 3D look.  I'm not sure who to thank for the idea for this project, but it's lovely.  (If it was your sample, please let me know so that I can give you the credit.)

For the next set of matching projects, I made the Magnolia flower the focal point for the framed project along with a matching square card.  The card is from Stesha Bloodhart and I'm not sure again of the source of the framed project that I found on Facebook. 

I got the wooden frames at Joann's in the clearance section and painted them.  I also used Naturals white cardstock for the card to give it a more vintage feel.

Rounding out this month's cards is a lovely gold embossed card.  I painted the teal focal point with some ink to give the card some color.  It's a simple to make card that has a great impact.  I found it on Facebook but again don't have a name.

Lastly, but perhaps my favorite of all, is this painted Magnolia card.  I stamped onto Crumb Cake cardstock and embossed with white ink.  Then cut and gave the flower a watercolor look using some matching ink and some white craft ink.  It's hard to tell in the photo, but there's some wink of Stella to make the flower shine.  (No watermark on this card either, so no name.)

I was trying to showcase cards from this set that worked up fairly quickly without having to color in the Magnolia flower.  I think everyone enjoyed them.  What do you think of this set?

Stamping Project in a Wooden Frame

Yesterday one of my crafty friends held a workshop in her church for ladies to make a shadow box frame craft.  I had wanted to make some of these frames during one of my stamping classes so I went for some ideas.

There were about 16 ladies there and we all had a great time using stamps, punches and the Big Shot to make the pretty flower out of felt.  We were allowed to decorate our frames any way that we wanted. Every frame looked entirely different.

Here is what I came up with.  I branched out from my usual colors and used a pretty rose brick paper for the background.  I added some tan and brown leaf accents, wrapped it with twine, added the beautiful felt flower and some butterflies for embellishment.  I just love how it came out.

It was a lot of fun to go to a craft time where I wasn't the one coming up with the ideas and preparing all of the supplies.  :)

Afterward I saw a photo of me making my project on facebook that someone had posted.  And yes, I am the lady in green.  :)

Dashing Deer Homestyle

I love all of the things that you can do with the Dashing Deer set.  For this project, I cut out a couple of the deer and put them on a glittery snowbank in the woods.  I got rid of the glass so that it can have more of a 3D look to it. 

It's very hard to tell in the photo, but it's a very shiny scene.  The snow is glitter paper and the copper embellishments that I cut out for the corners shine along with the copper portions of the pretty paper in the background. 

I cut the scenery a bit smaller than the frame.  Underneath is a white piece embossed with the swirly embossing folder to give it some snowy texture.

Don't they look sweet in this frame?
