Everyday Details

This past week I made some cards using the stamp set, Everyday Details in the mini catalog.  I loved the set right away when I saw it in the catalog and decided to make some cards using the set.

I love the little tea cup stamp and put it on my card with some papers from the Softly Stippled designer papers, one of the offerings during Sale-a-bration.  The background for all of my cards this week is Pebbled Path.  The gray matched some of the papers in the designer pack and for the first card, I chose the flowered teal background.

Here is the same card made only using a soft coral color.  I didn't color in the tea cup for this card and love the look of it.  I also used Everyday Details dies for the focal point and accent piece.  I added a little doily cut out from the designer papers, too, to add some interest.

For the nest card, I used the stippled flower paper as the background and added a gray strip across the front of the card, cut out with one of the dies.  I stamped the speckled dots on the eggs but didn't really like how it came out.  I think just using a blend or marker dots would look better, for the next time I use the little nest image.

The vase image with the flowers is so sweet and I love how it looks with the outer border raised just a bit.  I let the ladies who come to my stamp class pick which designer papers that they wanted for their cards.  I tend to use a lot of the same colors in my projects so it was nice to have some variety for them.  I got the idea for this card from Ange McKay on Youtube.

I would definitely use this set again.  I'd like to try some brighter designer papers to pair it with.  What colors have you used with it?  Maybe I'll find a little bird to put with the nest.

Queen Bee is the Bee's Knees

When I first saw the set, Queen Bee in the mini catalog, I knew that I had to have it!  I love the detail in this bee stamp.  :)  For the first card, I made a fancy fold and used the papers from the Delicate Desert designer papers.

I stamped the bee and also cut out an extra set of wings to match her.  I used the flower dies from the set and cut them out in silver paper.  The sprig is also from the set and I love how it all comes together.

I also used the print stamp to make the card look like a "collage" card.  She is so much prettier in real life, but who wouldn't want a card that lets them know they are the "Queen Bee" of their own life?

I got the idea for my three cards from Gail Ellis on Pinterest.

The next card appears to be a bit more collage-looking.  I told the ladies who come over to stamp that you can keep adding more things or keep the card simple.  That's the fun about the collage cards.  All of the pieces and embellishments can be interchangeable, too.

I paired the Bee with Nature Prints stamp set and dies for my cards.  On this card, I used the wreath from the Natural Prints dies.

For my cards I used a mixture of different greens to give them a nice green/gray look to them.

For the third card, I embossed the bee in silver.  But after I made the card, I tried using the gray emboss powders and I liked the look of that better.  I used Nature's Prints for the center section of the card.  It's hard to tell in the photo, but for the background I used a subtle embossing folder to give the card more texture.

I think the Bee can be very versatile, depending on how you use her.  Change up the color palette (rust and corals) and you will have a totally different look to your cards.

For the final project, we made desk calendars.  I know it's already March (!) but everyone was excited to finally get a calendar.  :)

Here's a pic of some of the ladies working on their Bee cards.

What sort of things have you done with the Queen Bee?

Honeybee Home

I'm so glad that the stamp set called Honeybee Home has made it into the new catalog for the next year!  I found some pretty samples using this set on Pinterest and this week I put together some cards with my own spin on them.

The idea for the first card is from Krisi Gray.  I used some blue paper from the Sunshine and Rainbow pack that was available from the last Sale-a-Bration.  I added the pretty hollyhocks and smaller flower (I'm not sure what kind of flowers they are!) and colored them in with Stampin blends.  I love the Hive 3D embossing folder that coordinates with this set.  If you look closely, there are some navy blue and white cut outs from the die set.

Add the honeybee, some Wink of Stella and a few embellishments and you have a bee-utiful card!

For my next card I used the Hive 3D folder as a stamp to make the honeycomb look on the background paper.  I just love the subtle honeycomb look.  I stamped two hollyhocks and added some white and vellum sprigs for the background for an easy and elegant card!  I got the idea from Vicki Boucher.

The last card in this series uses some watercolor painting.  I cut out the sprigs from the thick white cardstock and then painted on the color using the ink refills and a spritz bottle.  The flowers are stamped and cut out and then I watercolored them using the same technique.

For the background on this card, I used the blending brushes and sponged on some Mint Macaroon ink to the center of the card base.  I added some flowers in Smoky Slate and a couple of older stamps to give it a "collage" look.

I added a strip of the new Vellum Layering designs and one from the Sunshine and Rainbows designer pack.  There is a little bit of scrunge dots on the front in green and grays to tie it all together.

The ladies in my class loved making this card.  I'm not that much into "collage" cards, but we all thought that it looked great and all of the pieces came together.

This card idea is from Janneke Dijkstra.

I had fun with this set and hope to make some more pretty things with it.  Which card in the series do you like the best?
