Quilted Green Table Runner and Wedding Frame

Back in March I posted a quilted gray star table runner that I made for my niece for her wedding. However, I didn't really think that it went with the stamped gift that I made for her.

So I went back to my craft room and made another one!  This time I used some soft greens that I thought would look nice in her new home in FL.  

I used some light green scraps that I had along with a beige leaf print for the background.  I also made the blocks just a little bit smaller.  I love how it came out!  After making it, I thought that this would make a nice runner for my own table. Lol

My niece and her her new husband like the outdoors and like hiking.  So I made this stamped frame for them.  I used In the Pines stamp set to create a mountain scene and kept the same green colors for the embellishments.  The accent colors don't really show up in the photo, but they are gold.  I picked up the shadow box frame at Michaels.

To coordinate with my gift, I made some 3" x 3" love notes for her to give to her new spouse with the mountain theme.  I mailed off her gifts a couple of weeks ago and they both really like them!

Working on Christmas Cards

I have to admit, I love this card made using the Poinsettia dies and the Cinnamon Cider cardstock.  I think this is my new favorite color to work with!  I found the idea for this card from Michelle on Hello Day Cards.  I had some copper ribbon in my bin and thought that looked so nice with this color.  I embossed the saying with copper powders and love how it turned out.  The flower petals have some Wink of Stella on them to make them shine!
 

The next card is made using the Painted Christmas Suite.  There is so much that you can do with this set and the papers.  I love the pine cone look to this card.  I added a little bird from the Curvy Bird set as an accent and love how he blends in so well with this card.

For the tree card, I used the paper from the Painted Christmas to give yet another look.  The trees are cute outs from In the Pines from last year.  The darker tree is on the front panel and the lighter colored tree is on the inside.  Put together, they add some dimension to the card.  It's a simple fancy fold card.

The birds are from the Curvy birds also.

While these are Christmas cards, they have a warm, woodsy look to them.  I used the new Evening Evergreen on the cards and I like how it looks.  

Last up from this card class is the little girl from the Seasons of Fun stamp set.  She is picking out her tree for Christmas.  Because I used greens in making this card, it looks like she had to go for a walk in the forest to get her tree.  

So cute, right?  I found ideas for my cards from Michelle Quinno, Dianna Gibbs and from Wendy Smith.

Penguin Playmates

 One of the designer papers that is offered in the SU's summer Sale-a-Bration catalog is this fun set of papers called Penguin Playmates.  The colors are cheery and bright and Penguin and his friends are SO cute!  I love whimsical images from Stampin Up.

All of the cards in this set are not made with stamping, but with images cut out from the designer papers.  One night I sat and cut out several images while watching TV.  Then I was all ready to put the cards together.  

For this card, I cut the snowbanks out of the blue paper in the package.  I used the die cut from last year's Frosty Friends.  

Then I cut out some trees using the green dsp from the set with the cut outs from last year's In the Pines die cuts.  The snowflakes are from So Many Snowflakes die set.  

Then I just added a couple of Penguin friends and a saying!  So easy and so much fun.  

The snow friends are all interchangeable on the cards.  This card idea is from Christine Trimble.

For my next card, I used Just Jade for the cardstock and cut out a green snowbank for the polar bear to sit on.  If the snow was white, he wouldn't show up as well.  I also tucked a green tree behind his head to make him stand out better.  A piece of designer paper, a snowflake and a saying.  

The fun thing about these cards is that you can use any saying that you'd like.  I chose this saying from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set.  I cut out a couple of little trees from the paper and added them, as well.

Although you can't see it in the photos, I also added Wink of Stella glitter to their clothing items.  It really makes the cards shine!

For the Foxy card, I used the Stitched So Sweetly dies for the saying.  I cut out more trees from the dsp and added them as well as the snowflakes.  I got the idea for this card from Kath, a card that I found on Facebook.  

The card would also have been fun to use Cinnamon Cider as the cardstock to match the fox.  Maybe I'll make another Foxy card using that color.

Were these card fun to make?  Oh, yes!  Cut out your playmates and then add them to your cards using the pretty designer paper and coordinating colors.  And guess what else?  You don't even have to make them Christmas cards.  They can be for birthdays and all sorts of other occasions just by changing the sayings.  

I can't wait to make more.  

In the Pines

Although I have a lot of "tree" stamps in my collection, I have to say that I love the trees from In the Pines.  They just seem so realistic to me.  I made these two cards using the set and got the ideas from Narelle Farrugia.  

I love the contrast of the Tranquil Tide mixed with the white card.  I stamped the trees in black and then added some different greens to the forest.  I found some ruched ribbon in Tranquil Tide and like how that looks on the card, too.  I added in a bit of Pear Pizazz to bring in another color.  And the honeycomb embossing folder adds a nice touch to the background.

For this card, also from Narelle, I added a small hill in Pear Pizazz.  I used the Thinking of You stamp because I don't this set needs to be defined as only being used for Christmas cards.  The background uses the Evergreen Forest embossing folder.  

The cards have a peaceful look to them, like you are taking a walk in the woods during winter.  These cards would look cute with a little deer added to them.  Maybe for next time...

 

Holiday Gnomes

The first set that caught my eye in this year's holiday catalog was the Gnome for the Holidays stamp set.  It features 3 cute little gnomes decorating and getting ready for Christmas.  I like buying and using sets that a little bit different from what I already have.

This is just the sweetest little card featuring the gnomes that I've seen!  The original idea is from Jo Blackman.  I love having the gnomes peek out of the little windows on this card.  :)  I changed up some of the designer papers and used the Merry Christmas word dies.  It's one of my favorites this year.

Next up is the little man gnome trying to find a place to hang his Christmas ornament.  I used trees from In the Pines to create the forest and paper from the Heartwarming Hugs collection. So sweet!

The next card has the little girl gnome standing outside of their home.  She may have gotten confused as to where she was supposed to put the Christmas tree!  This card idea is from Cathy Bethel.  I used Heartwarming Hugs for this card, too.

To compliment the gnome cards, I added this In the Pines tree cut out card.  I used the same holiday papers so that all of the cards would coordinate, giving them a cohesive look.  This card was easy to make, but I love it's simplistic impact.  This idea is from Patti Dolan.

Welcome to Poinsettia Place

Over the years Stampin Up has had several Poinsettia stamp sets in the holiday catalogs.  But this year the Set, Poinsettia Petals is so amazing!  After seeing so many beautiful samples on Pinterest, I knew that I had to get it for my own holiday crafting.  :)

This pretty gold card is made using gold embossing powder with gold accents leaves.  I also added the Plush Poinsettia velvet flocked paper!  I added Misty Moonlight cardstock for the background, but you could put any color background cardstock on this card and it would be beautiful!  I got the idea from Jan Clothier.

Another beautiful card that I made to coordinate with the previous one is this fairly easy gold embossed card.  It features the In the Pines cut outs and the Evergreen Forest embossing folder.  I added a strip of the metallic cardstock to the front of the card and ran them both through the folder.  Then I added the front to some thick white cardstock for a white-on-white look to the card.  I embossed the saying from For Unto Us stamp set and cut it out with the stitched circle framelits.  Add some bling and welllah!  A beautiful card.  From Kerry McDonough.

Seemingly every time I take the camera out to photograph my cards, my kitty Ginger wants in on the action.  Here she is posing along with the two cards.  Actually, she was trying to eat the gold tree, but let's not talk about that.  :)

I made this card using the Poinsettia Petals.  This time I stamped the flower petals in Basic Brown and in Olive Green for the leaves.  I added some gold metallic sprigs to bring out the gold highlights in the papers.  I embossed the saying with gold powders.  You can also see the inside of the card.  This idea came from Christy Fulk.

Lastly I wanted to stamp the petals onto vellum cardstock for a more muted look to the poinsettia.  I colored them on the back side with Sweet Sugarplum ink and used the same color for the card base.  I got the idea from Mary Brown.

Altogether I loves the "golden" look of these poinsettia cards.  And today I found out that this set will be available past January.  I just might try using it in additional colors.
