Winter Owls

The other day I was working on some Thank You cards for Christmas gifts that people had given to me.  It was a wintery, snowy day and I took out Winter Owls.  I paired it with the soft colors of One Horse Open Sleigh papers and love how my cards came out.

For this first card, I die cut a circle and put some of the designer papers behind it for the focal point.  I stamped and cut out the owl and used some branch die cuts from Classic Cloche dies.  I heat embossed the saying on Just Jade paper and think that the colors go so well together for this wintery card.  I got the idea from Sandra Kogel.

Another beautiful wintery card is this one - the designer papers do all of the work.  I started with Misty Moonlight cardstock and added the winter scene.  I stamped the owl in navy blue and cut him out.  I love how he is flying by the winter tree.  A quick and easy card.  I saw a card by Nancy Wood and copied her idea.

This next card is pretty much the same layout, only it uses a different paper.  It comes with this saying and I thought it was so appropriate for this time of year.  I stamped the bird in Early Espresso and colored him in a bit.  I added Wink of Stella to make his wings sparkle as he flies through the snow.

I loved making these cards and now I wish that I had more of the One Horse Open Sleigh papers.  :)

It All Started With a Skirt

It's been a couple of months now since I've moved into my new home, and I'm still trying to set up my sewing room so that I can just walk in and sew.  Needless to say, it's not quite at that stage right now!

However, I had a birthday party to go to for a special friend turning one-year old and wanted to make her a little something.  It all started with this skirt.

I had her Mom measure her waist and then I took out some cute coordinating fabric that I had in my stash to make her the skirt.  I went out and bought some pink rick-rack to add to the bottom to make it even more girly.

Then I went in the stamping room to make a card to match.  To my surprise, I actually found designer paper that matched the skirt!  It was paper from Heidi Grace designs that had purchased it a few years ago and have never used.  I added the cute little owl stamp (because her party theme was owls) and love how it matches the skirt.  :)

Then while browsing on Pinterest, I came across some cute little owl stuffed toys and decided to make a couple of them to match, too!  The original idea came from CakeShop Craft, and I modified it so that a little child can play with them with no buttons that can come off.

Here's the whole set.  What do you think?

Now just to wrap it up and get it off to my little friend.  :)

Cute Little Owl Guy (and Free Give-Away!)

When I was looking through the new Stampin' Up catalog, I was immediately drawn to this cute little owl guy in one of the new stamp sets.  He is from a set called So Very Happy.  I made these magnets for my stampers who are coming to the New Catalog Party.  I  love to color and cut out images.  (Just ask my the stampers who come to my house!)  I used some of the new papers and punches, too.  He is going to be the "star" of the Party!

Here is the card that I have ready featuring the Happy little owl.  There's also a sour cream favor with a punch-out window.  He's just SO cute!

As an added bonus, I am having a free Give-away!  If you leave a comment before Monday, June 16th (at 9:00 am EST) on this page, I will randomly draw names and send you one of the magnets featuring the cute little owl!  This drawing is now over.  Eileen O is the winner!
 Good luck!
