Mixing Old with New

Today I took out the old stamp set, Time with You.  It has cute vintage images on it from 2006.  And check out the saying, "On the open road of life, may happiness be your destination."  Sweet, right?

 Although I made this card a couple of months ago, I loved the vintage look of the girl mixed with the look of the Regency Park papers, and wanted to make more.  :)

For the cards, I used some various sayings and on this card, I chose another color of the designer papers.  I added some Wink of Stella to the girl to give her some shine.  You can't see it in the photo, but she sparkles as she's riding her bike!

I have a lot, a really lot, of the Regency Park papers left over from the spring catalog, so you may see more things made with it!  Stampin Up is running the mini catalogs for only 4 months now instead of 6 months and I just don't get time to use up all of the products.  I hope they go back to 6 months next year!

These girls look like they are riding their bikes on the road to happiness.  :)

 

Framed Florets Cards

For my last stamping class, we took out the stamp set called Framed Florets.  I've had it for a while, but finally got a chance to use it.  Honestly, it's so versatile that it's definitely something that just have to have if you like to make cards.

We started with this pretty side-fold card that uses the heart frame in the die set.  I saw the idea for this card from Jenny Hayward on Pinterest.  I used the papers that originally came with the suite for this birthday card.  We first cut out the hearts on a narrow piece of paper and then added the designer paper to finish the front of the card.  

Then we added ribbon, some cut-outs from the paper and a sprig that is also part of the set.  I used an oval stitched frame for the saying.  I love the font for each of the sayings, too.  This card can be made over and over again, each time using a different paper and different saying.  The only thing that is stamped is the saying.

For the second card, I started with black cardstock and added a Petal Pink layer and then some black checked paper.  I added a scalloped edge to the side of the layers to make it look more feminine.  Then cut out the pretty frame (I call it the Sleeping Beauty mirror frame) and added it to the card.  The flowers are all cut from the designer papers.  

I added a couple of sprigs and cut-out leaves, a bow and some rhinestones.  I used Wink of Stella to highlight the flowers and make them shine.  I saw the idea online from Mo Roots, another demonstrator.  

For the final card, I chose to go white-on-white.  I don't usually go for the all-white look, but this time I thought it lent to the beauty of the card.  I embossed a white background using the Timeworn Type emboss folder.  Then I added the "Sleeping Beauty" die with dimensionals.  I cut out another oval and taped them all together on the back so that the card wouldn't fall apart or lose its shape.  

The sprigs and leaves are cut out in gold and the flowers are dies from the Cherry Blossoms die set.  I added gold embellishments to the flowers.  The sayings are heat embossed using gold powders.  JoAnn Hewins made the original card.  

These cards all came out so different from each other, and yet so beautiful.  I plan on using the gold card to give to my niece, who is getting married soon.

Way To Goat

 I finally got a chance to take out these really cute goat stamps, called Way to Goat.  They are so silly and make up some really nice whimsical cards.  I especially like the saying, "Happy Birthday you old goat!"  I'm not sure if I'd send this card to just anyone, but if you know someone with a good sense of humor, it's sure to be a hit.  I got the idea for this from Angie over at Chic-n-Scratch.

This card is so silly, too!  I love this one.  The saying says, I got you a cake... but I ate it!  The remainder of the saying is on the inside of the card.  I thought that this set really needed a cake, because of the saying.  I looked back in the "archives" for this little cake that I think matches it perfectly!  It's from an old set called Party Animals from 1999.  I got the idea for this from Jane Proffitt.  I changed up the colors and added the cake.

For this next card, I wanted to show my stampers that the goats can be feminine, as well as masculine.  So I added some flower paper and flowers to dress her up a bit.  I love the Bumblebee gingham ribbon on this, too.  I saw this idea from Diana Gibbs.

Making Birthday Photo Cards

Stampin Up has some pretty designer paper with photos on it called Picture Perfect Party.  I was avoiding getting it for a while, but I saw some cute ideas online and decided to take the plunge.  This week I made 5 birthday/celebration cards with it.  I used the Picture Perfect stamp set for the sayings.  I love the colors and how the simple images look on a card. 

The paper with the donuts on it can be used for much more than birthday cards.  And we all know someone that loves donuts, right? 

For each card, I mounted the papers onto black background to make the sayings stand out better.  Then I added some of the new colored pearls and cute stamped images to tie in the colors.

All in all I made 5 cards.  And to my delight, I found that they all matched the envelopes from Sale-a-Bration!  They make a cute set, don't they?

I like them all but I think the donuts "take the cake" today.  :)

Cool Treat Card Class

When I first saw the stamp set Cool Treats, I didn't think that much of it.  Enter Pinterest samples, and I began to find so many cute ideas for it that I bought it.  I offered a class where we made 4 cards using the pretty Tasty Treats designer paper and the Cool Treats stamp set.  The strawberry paper in the set has a pretty glossy shine to it, making the card stand out even more than it appears in the photo.

The "You're Sweet" card uses punches for the saying.  A cute and easy card to make.  I got the idea from songofmyheartstamper.  

Next, the Happiest Birthday card uses another sheet of the dsp and the layering oval framelits that I think make any saying look great.  We embellished it by cutting out and adding two popsicles.  This ideas is from theladyandherstamps.  Cute, right?

The next two cards ideas are from prettypapercards and mystamplady.com.  For the Happiest Birthday card, we stamped the cones and scoops and then cut them out and adhered them to the card.  The cone in the middle has dimensionals under it to give it some pop.

I didn't have the framelits for this stamp set, so I cut out two circles for the sundae bowl on the Cherry card and cut them in half.  I love how they came out.  The ice cream scoops are punches and then I cut out the spoon and cherry for added interest.  the saying on the inside says, "I hope your birthday is sprinkled with everything great."

I love how they all turned out.  I think this was one of my favorite card classes yet.  Have you tried this set?  Which one is your favorite?

Money Speaks

I wasn't sure what to give my son for his birthday, so I made the "present" into a card!  I got the idea from Jill Hilliard on Pinterest (of course) and thought that it was a cute idea.  I hope that he likes it. 

I wish that I had moved the "candles" more toward the middle of the card, because when I was done adhering them, there was a lot of blank space near the right of the card!  So I added some buttons to fill it in! 

What do you do to fill in the empty spaces on your projects or cards?  My stamping friends know that I don't like to start over!

Cards "All Abloom" with Color!

These are the cards that we made at this week's Stamping Class.  I used the new designer paper set called All Bloom.  I love the colors and diversity of the cards.  Yet they somehow look great together because of the colors. 

The pretty quilted card idea came from Vicki Burdeck.  She is so talented and has a great blog with her cards.  I changed the colors and the stamp set that she used to include the Flower Fun.  I like the stamps that have punches to coordinate with them.  They made stamping so easy!  The leaves are made using the bird punch- much easier than taking out the embosslets.

The next card has a cut-out on the front to showcase the little heart!  Cute, right?  I got this idea from Tracey Roy.  I added a simple flower image from Bloom with Hope set and gently watercolored it.  I also added some "dots" using markers and then embellished it with some rhinestones and the new sequins!

The Happy Birthday card is the simplest one of the four.  It's made using the set, Too Kind.  I got this idea from Vicki, also, but changed the colors.  Simple, and yet so beautiful! 

Lastly, this art-deco card is made using the new stamp set, Choose Happiness.  I copied the idea from  So Shelli's blog from Stampin Up.  I changed the colors and added some of my own embellishments. 

I love how all of the cards coordinate.  I think this was one of my favorite card classes.  What do you think?

Cute Little Owl Guy (and Free Give-Away!)

When I was looking through the new Stampin' Up catalog, I was immediately drawn to this cute little owl guy in one of the new stamp sets.  He is from a set called So Very Happy.  I made these magnets for my stampers who are coming to the New Catalog Party.  I  love to color and cut out images.  (Just ask my the stampers who come to my house!)  I used some of the new papers and punches, too.  He is going to be the "star" of the Party!

Here is the card that I have ready featuring the Happy little owl.  There's also a sour cream favor with a punch-out window.  He's just SO cute!

"Springy" Colored Cards

    

I had a chance to make a couple of cards this week.  I got a new Sizzix die that makes these perfect-looking 3-D flowers! I have to say that I had a lot of fun making these.  Don't you just love the colors in this card?  They seemed so soft and "spring-looking" to me!

I love the soft blue flowers in this card with the tan background.  I stamped one of my new flower images onto the blue paper with white ink and embossing powders.  Then cut them out and made them three-dimensional.  I always love brown accents on my cards.  Both of these designs ideas came from Vicki Burdick.  

 Even though we had a snow storm this week (in last March!) adding these spring colors and Easter decor made it feel like spring at least indoor!
