Fishy Cards

This week I needed to make some masculine cards, so I took out the Let's Go Fishing designer papers to work with.  I just love the little fish images that are on one of the papers.  I fussy cut them out and they coordinate so well with the remaining papers.

For this card, I used a saying from Picture Perfect Birthday.  I love this saying because you can use it for any reason  - birthday, Father's Day or graduation.  I thought the card needed something to put behind the saying, so I used a net from Under the Sea dies cut from a piece of light coral designer paper.  Perfect, right?

Then I added a little sprig and couple of embellishments to finish off the card.

This second card uses the Pebbled Path colored papers from the Let's Go Fishing set.  I just loved the netting, so I put some on this card, too, along with more cut-out fish.

Under the Sea dies had some sea grass cut outs, so I put those on my card, too.  The fish have some Wink of Stella added to their fins for a little bit of sparkle.  The saying is from Wildlife Wonder and this can also be used for many different occasions.

My third card is made using Pecan Pie cardstock with a piece of designer paper that I cut about an inch from the edge.  Then I flipped it over to give the left side of the card a bit of interest.  It's hard to tell in the photo, but I "hung" a couple of fish on some twine and then stamped Happy Father's Day into the circle.  The moss sprig is from Under the Sea.

I had so much fun making these masculine cards.  The only stamping was for the sayings along with a bit of a grunge for the backgrounds.  Now I wish that I had ordered more of this fishy paper before it retired!

What sets do you like to use for your masculine cards?

Rainbow Cards

Here in our area we have what is called the "518 Rainbow Hunt."  People are putting rainbows in their windows or making displays with rainbows for those who are in quarantine to see when they go out on walks.

So I thought it was a good time to make some Rainbow Cards.  For this card I used an old flower punch to cut out flowers in a rainbow of colors.  You could use any flower punch, heart or butterfly punch for this card, etc.  Then I added a few green leaf cut outs so the flowers weren't just floating along the edge of the card.

And I love the saying taken from the Picture Perfect Birthday set that will make anyone happy if they receive this card.  Add a textured background, some pearls and a bow of silver ribbon and this makes a very happy card.

I got the idea for this next card from Linda Parker on Pinterest.  I stamped butterflies from the Butterfly Gala set in Versamark onto a piece of shiny cardstock.  Then I embossed them using white emboss powder.  I sponged a rainbow of colors onto the card which made the butterflies stand out.  The technique is an old one, called emboss resist.

Then I added a couple of punched out butterflies and a saying from the wonderful So Sentimental set.  Very different from the first card, but still an awesome rainbow to create.

Have you seen any rainbows around in windows or on doors?

Farmhouse/Woodsy Look

This week I was playing around with my wooden 6x6" papers and came up with some "woodsy-look" cards.  The first used the Colorful Seasons set to compliment the wood look.  I love the brown cut-out twig and the leaves.   I also used the Basket Weave embossing folder on the accent piece.  Happiest birthdays is from Picture Perfect Birthday.  It fits so well in the stitched circle frame.

Here are 2 more cards with the same layout.  This time I eliminated most of the pink flowers and added a pine cone cut out.  Now they have a more masculine/fall look to them.

For this card I used the Jars of Love and added some green springs from the Pretty Pines thinlits.  I bought these cut outs just for the sprigs!  They can be used for cards that don't have a specific holiday look to them or they can work themselves into the Christmas card stack.  Idea is from Narelle Farrugia.

Next up is a "fancy fold" card using the Jars of Love set again.  I added some greenery and flowers to the jar.  I got the idea from Mandy Depioggi.

Lastly is a card made using the Dandelion Wishes set.  One card is just copper embossing and the other has a little sponging on it to give it some color.  They both came out nice and I'm sure which one that I even like better than the other.  They can also be used to send to a man friend.  :)

What have you been making using the Wood Textures papers?

Making Birthday Photo Cards

Stampin Up has some pretty designer paper with photos on it called Picture Perfect Party.  I was avoiding getting it for a while, but I saw some cute ideas online and decided to take the plunge.  This week I made 5 birthday/celebration cards with it.  I used the Picture Perfect stamp set for the sayings.  I love the colors and how the simple images look on a card.

The paper with the donuts on it can be used for much more than birthday cards.  And we all know someone that loves donuts, right?

For each card, I mounted the papers onto black background to make the sayings stand out better.  Then I added some of the new colored pearls and cute stamped images to tie in the colors.

All in all I made 5 cards.  And to my delight, I found that they all matched the envelopes from Sale-a-Bration!  They make a cute set, don't they?

I like them all but I think the donuts "take the cake" today.  :)
